Shopee Malaysia Penalty Points & Late Shipment (2026 Rules)
Shopee Malaysia Penalty Points & Late Shipment (2026 Rules)
A penalty point on Shopee Malaysia is not a fine — it is a suspension of seller privileges, and the ones sellers feel most are exclusion from marketing campaigns and the traffic that comes with them. This page collects what Shopee's own Seller Education pages say about how points are earned, what the punishment actually is, when points reset, and how to appeal before you are punished.
Everything below is quoted or paraphrased from Shopee MY Seller Education articles, with the article's own update date, so you can check the current wording yourself.
The two metrics that generate most penalty points
Shopee measures your shop weekly, with updates every Monday. Two fulfilment metrics do the damage:
| Metric | What it measures | Window |
|---|---|---|
| NFR — Non-Fulfilment Rate | Percentage of orders that were cancelled or returned | Past 7 days |
| LSR — Late Shipment Rate | Percentage of orders shipped late (shipped after the shipping deadline shown in your order details) | Past 7 days |
Both are visible in Seller Centre → Account Health → Fulfilment Performance. There is also a dedicated My Penalty area on the Account Health page, and a notification banner appears there when a penalty is issued.
The LSR threshold — and an inconsistency in Shopee's own pages
Two official pages currently state different thresholds, so read both before you rely on a number:
| Source (article, date) | What it says |
|---|---|
| What happens when I have a high Late Shipment Rate? (updated 2 Jul 2026) | Maintain LSR below 10%; exceeding 10% earns one penalty point — and one additional point if LSR exceeds 10% and you have 50 or more late-shipped orders |
| Update to Shopee Shipping Policy and Operational Metrics (dated 30 Apr 2026) | "Effective 11 February 2026, the Late Shipment Rate (LSR) threshold has been revised from 10% to 15%" |
They also differ on the temporary relief period (one says until 7 April 2026, the other prints "2025" — a typo on Shopee's side). The practical rule: your Account Health page is the authority. If your shop sits between 10% and 15%, treat it as high risk until you confirm the current threshold in Seller Centre.
One structural note that quietly moves LSR: for local Managed, Preferred and Shopee Mall sellers, Saturday now counts as a fulfilment day in all states. Fulfilment days are otherwise weekdays, excluding Friday (Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu), Sunday (other states) and public holidays.
What the punishment actually is
This is the part worth internalising, because it is not a cash penalty — it is lost opportunity:
- Penalties are suspended seller privileges, such as exclusion from marketing campaigns, and they last 28 days.
- Penalty points and punishments are separate clocks: a punishment that starts 14, 21 or 28 days before the quarter ends still runs its full length, even though the points themselves reset.
When points reset
- Penalty points reset to zero on the last Monday of each quarter — i.e. the last Monday of March, June, September and December. Everyone starts the quarter fresh.
The new pre-appeal window (from 20 April 2026)
The most useful procedural change in 2026: sellers may appeal penalty points in advance — up to 7 days before the punishment period starts.
That means you can contest a point before the 28-day punishment takes effect, rather than watching the campaign exclusion happen and arguing afterwards. If you know you had a legitimate reason for a late shipment (courier failure, mass order surge, public holiday misread), file the pre-appeal in that window.
What a 28-day campaign exclusion costs — in numbers you can actually use
Exclusion from marketing campaigns is not an abstract punishment: it removes the placement that brings you impressions you did not have to pay for. To see what that means for your own catalogue, take a SKU you sell through campaign traffic and run it through the free SEA Profit Calculator: it applies the full fee stack — commission, the 3.78% transaction fee, the RM0.54 platform support fee, first-mile logistics and FX — so you can see the net per order you would be missing for 28 days, and decide how much operational slack (extra fulfilment days, a backup courier) is worth buying.
Avoid the point in the first place
- Know your shipping deadline per order — LSR is measured against the deadline shown in the order details, not against a habit.
- Use the Account Health page weekly, on the same day Shopee updates it (Monday), so you see a rising NFR/LSR while it is still cheap to fix.
- Watch NFR, not just LSR — cancellations hurt as much as late shipments, and in some cases more.
- Don't cancel to avoid a late shipment. Cancelling moves the order from the late column into the cancelled/returned column of NFR.
- File the pre-appeal within 7 days of the punishment start date if the cause was outside your control.
For how these operational metrics interact with what you actually keep per order, see how to calculate your real profit per order on Shopee Malaysia the full Shopee MY fee breakdown, and the dated list of 2026 fee and policy changes. If a penalty has left money stuck rather than merely delayed, the causes and fixes are in why a marketplace payout fails or is on hold.
